Moving Backward to Move Foward
Do you have a great idea or a goal you’d like to see accomplished but it seems too large an undertaking to even start? Well, just a little idea that may help you along the way: start by working backwards. Start at the goal / finished product and determine the step prior. Write this down. Do this all the way down to the first person you need to contact and why. If you don’t know, ask someone! Never underestimate the power of a collaborative effort. What you’ll find is you’ve just created a rough template to accomplishment. As you start and move forward you may find some things you didn’t know needed to be done, just add them into steps and knock ’em out! If you find yourself at a block, fret not, I read a great book that helps with that. The War of Art by Steven Pressfield is great book for helping you get over that hump. It’s directed a little more toward the creative process of writing but the tools and techniques he offers are effective in almost all creative endeavors. So don’t sit on that idea anymore, get out there and make it happen!
